Katherine

We arrived in Katherine after an overnight stay at the Victoria River Roadhouse.

Due to the huge wet season , which peaked at just under 3000mm, there is water flowing quickly over all waterfalls.

We have taken on Edith Falls today.

We are at the Upper Edith Falls.

It's quite bizzare, that we have all the crocodile warnings and are being quite safe but you get a really weird feeling each time you enter the water, we always make sure that many other swimmers are in the water........ Just in case!!!!!!!!

The lower Edith Falls.

Gecko  Hunting has become a favourite activity for the boys.

The following Pics are from our Cultural Trip with two lovely artists, who taught us a great deal about their people and ways of life. This was top shelf.

Karen and Jackson took on the dot painting. They made a bookmark each.
They developed a story using a variety of symbols.

Richard and Harry created a line design with Manuel.
He told some great stories and gave us a better understanding of his people, the Dalabon.

Scott, Hannah and Angus, our great buddies, took on the art lesson as well. Scotty became the teacher's favourite as he found Scott's name easy to pronounce. And Scotty proved to be a real asset for the Dalabon tribe, not only can he paint, but firelighting, spear throwing and a range of other skills were utilised.

Harry starts his turtle, I mean crocodile, OOOPs ..... better ask him.
A very traditional - Dalabon Caravan.
Jackson's story.
Karen's. They will tell these when they have arrived home.
A furure Dinner???? .......I mean a cute joey found abandoned.
The firelighting begins.
All the kids warm the sticks up for Scotty.

Ahhhhhh..... we have fire.

If I can get that caravan I'M doing well.

You're a gonna Mr cardboard Kanga.

The Dalabon tribe. A brilliant experience.

A lovely cruise down three of The Katherine Gorges in the Nitmuluk National Park.
This trtap fills us with confidence as the cruise includes a swim.

Have all the canoeists been taken??????

Our good buddy Owen has pole position again.

It is very relaxing , kicking back and taking in the serenity of this place.

Don't panic, it's only a freshy and we are swimming only 100 metres up stream.
A terrific stay in Katherine. We caught up with the Vitelli family and made new friends with the Downs family. Another great stopover.
