Cape Leveque - our school camp.

Cape Leveque - Kooljaman

We needed to do a school camp as part of our curriculum ,
the only place we could get into was at Kooljaman found at Cape Leveque.
Kooljaman is found some 200 km from Broome, up on the Dampier Peninsula.

Jules finds the corrugations in the road all a bit rough.

The red dirt gets in everywhere.

The 86 kilometres of dirt road was quite the experience, the car, to date is handling it well.

 AHHHHH, the bituman.

The Church has many shells embedded in the altar and window frames, quite a unique look.

The road leading to our beach front shelter.

This our accommodation for the next three days.

The road into Mullilboor, our accommodation.

Karen relaxes after a hard days trekking.

Cape Leveque Lighthouse.

Sunset.

Morning time.

The car fridge is still running at full capacity.

The camp kitchen, over Karen's shoulder is our camp shower, a cold water number.

The weather is so warm up here all we needed was the fly screen tent.

31 degrees on our first day.

Karen's snaps.

Cape Leveque Lighthouse.

The front driveway in Koojaman.

A visit to one arm point, we needed to purchase day wrist bands to enter the community for the day, this gained us entry into the Trochus shell hatchery, these shells bring in $$$millions  for our economy. The shells are polished and used to make buttons for clothing. They also had a number of sea creatures on display as well.

 Green sea turtles.

Harry volunteers to feed the Baramundi, nic-named - The Big Girl.

Richard volunteers to feed the younger Barramundi with hilarious consequences.

The bait flew through the air and landed on an older ladies shoulder, she started jumping up and down in a bit of a panic. I thought I'd lost my hand. The fish got a second go at me and got a good chunk of my finger. Luckily they have no teeth and simply suck in the food. I received a good gumming.

The 10 metre tide moves so very quickly.

Some interesting fishing styles. We were attempting to catch the famous and good tasting blue - bone.
No luck on this occasion.

The trusty car is hanging in there.

Harry cooks up his Trevally and Karen's Gharfish.

We were extremely lucky to get the last booking for this camp site.

Harry's creative photography.

Our Campfire was toasty at night.
