Jindabyne to Thredbo - The Dead horse Gap Mountain trek.

Our 10 Kilometre trek started with a chairlift ride to the top of the Thredbo Quad chair. We needed to ascend a further 800 metres to begin our traverse across the ridge of the mountain range. The temperature was quite cool to begin with. We were well equipped with our backpack full of survival gear. The most important piece of quipment was the packet of Allens snakes. You never know when they will be needed.

Can we do it?   Yes we can.

A number of large , fresh and steaming piles of horse manure were found on this trip. Upon returning to base we were informed that many wild brumbies roamed these tracks. Ask Jackson and Harry about the Legend of Dead horse Gap ( a story their dad made up ) but , boy didn't it have them worried.

Lunch break at the Big Rock Cafe.

Amazing landscape and look at those trees. Cool rapids, would have been good with a raft.
