What a week?

After 5 days at Newell Beach , we end the stay, with a trip to the GBR (Great Barrier Reef) via the Ocean Safari company out of Cape Tribulation in the Daintree.
The following snaps are part of their promotional campaign.

Our trip to the reef started with an early morning trip to Cape Tribulation, we had some time to spare . We looked at a number of lookouts. This one overlooks the Daintree River mouth.

Our boat for the day, this was exceptionally quick and had us snorkelling within 30 minutes of boarding. No time to get sea sick. A big plus.
The water was warm and the Coral absolutely stunning.

After 2 hours of snorkelling, we were ready for the trip home. We have an underwater camera to develop. Not sure what the shots will be like!!!!!!

Time for lunch at Cape Tribulation Beach.

Cow Bay.

After 250 nights in the caravan. We decide to spoil ourselves.
We have booked a room at the Sheraton Mirage , Port Douglas.
This 5 star joint proved a magic spot to kick back.
The view Jackson & Harry had, whilst doing their school work, was stunning.

A big cumfy bed. No more van............for a couple of nights anyway.

We purchased a meal package here and ate each meal in the Lagoon Restaurant, we ate a great range of food and were thoroughly spoilt. It was quite funny seeing the van parked in the car park out the front.
4 mile beach outside the resort.

Harry gets used to the posh surroundings.

After our two days of luxury, we head back to Cairns for a lunch time BBQ with our new friends Chris, Ruth, Ben, Blaiden and Aisha and the gaggle of pet chickens. We had a great afternoon and enjoyed their company a great deal.

That afternoon we headed to Babinda and had a
3 night free camp in the local Rotary Park.

Here, we met up with the Johnston family, from New Zealand, who are  travelling about in their big bus. They have been travelling with a lovely Perth couple, Andreus and Denise and their dog Bobby.

Phil, Nic, Jody, Chace and Brodi were great company and provided many laughs. Andreus & Denise were an absolute scream, especially when West Coast were playing. We hope to catch up at a later date.

We headed to the Boulders , to check out this pristine water way.

Jackson, Brodi, Chace and Harry get in some serious fishing.
It was a great stay for the boys.
